Refuge Workers

Care First Recruitment Ltd are currently recruiting for a Refuge Workers to work in supported housing units on a temporary basis in various London locations.

As refuge worker, you will be responsible for providing high quality practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and their children living in our refuges. You will safeguard the running of the refuge, including the admission of survivors of domestic violence to the refuge and assess/ advise on their entitlement to welfare and housing benefits. You will develop support plans for each resident and aid them to obtain permanent accommodation.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide strong casework management skills

  • Good written and verbal communication

  • Understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries

  • Direct experience of providing support to survivors

  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to domestic violence including civil/criminal legislation and welfare rights

  • The ability to work as part of an on-call rota

  • To enable and enhance each client's quality of life by promoting / maintaining independent living for themselves and any dependants they may have ensuring confidentiality is kept at all times

  • Empower clients to improve their quality of life

  • Provide relevant support in accordance to the client’s needs through support and safety planning, risk and needs assessments

  • Promoting a Multi-agency approach of working to ensure the needs of the clients are met to a high quality

  • To report any safeguarding related concerns and incidents immediately to the line manager and ensure relevant policies are followed

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK, satisfactory references for the immediate 5 years and an Enhanced DBS.

In addition you must have experience of working in DVA and Safeguarding, providing emotional and practical support to women and children living in the community who have or may still be experiencing domestic abuse.
