Your new job in recruitment
Recruitment is fast-paced and dynamic, every day you'll make a lasting impact. As a Recruitment Consultant you'll source candidates and win business from clients and match the right candidate to the right job to make fees. It's hard work as you'll have to hit both sales and activity targets (and we have high expectations here at Hays) but a career in recruitment is extremely rewarding.

About us
Hays is the most successful specialist recruitment company in the UK, placing more than one candidate into a new job every minute of every business day. We've been voted the best recruitment company to work for in the U.K. by Glassdoor and we're the most followed recruitment company globally on LinkedIn.

Our Chelmsford office is home to one of our main Construction & Property hubs in the East of England, covering a huge range of technical and contracting vacancies on a day-to-day basis. The team are well established as market leaders across the area, working in partnership with a diverse and developed portfolio of clients that cover all corners of the industry. Working on the Mechanical & Electrical Trades desk, you’ll be responsible for the provision of Electricians, Plumbers, Pipefitters and more on exciting building projects across Essex & East London.

What you'll need to succeed with us
There's not one typical person that makes a good Recruitment Consultant. We've got people from all kinds of backgrounds – graduates, non-graduates, sales professionals, retailers, ex-tradespeople, people from hospitality or real estate… and unlike other agencies we don’t need you to have previous recruitment experience.

To succeed in recruitment you'll need to demonstrate that you're sales driven, self-motivated, results-focused and possess a tangible ambition to succeed. Recruitment is hard work and it takes time and perseverance to achieve results so resilience, persistence and determination is key. You need to be passionate about sales, people-focused, outgoing and confident.

It is essential you hold a valid driving licence and are eligible to work in the UK.

What you'll get in return from us
As a Recruitment Consultant at Hays you'll run your own business but be given the support of our market-leading brand, receive world-class training to help you become a recruiting expert and have access to the best tools and technology in the industry.

You’ll also receive:

  • A competitive base salary
  • Uncapped commission
  • Incentives and rewards
  • Referral bonuses of up to £2000 per individual

We also have a range of generous employee benefits to choose from including:

  • Discounted gym membership
  • Annual season ticket loans
  • Healthcare and dental care plans
  • The ability to buy extra holidays
  • Generous shopping discounts and savings

We operate a meritocratic culture where you are rewarded and recognised based on your results, the chance to get promoted at nine months (with an increase to your base at that time) and high performing individuals can be fast-tracked into management roles within a few years, as well as the chance to relocate to different parts of the UK or around the world. It's hard work and we expect excellence but if you deliver the results your earning potential and career progression knows no limits.
