The starting salary for this role is £10,790 per annum based on a 20 hour working week (FTE £19,422). The working hours areMonday to Friday 12:40 to 16:40.

Do you have a genuine passion for people? Do you want to work in a dedicated and rewarding environment? Surrey Registration Service are recruiting for a Receptionist to join our friendly team at Weybridge Register Office.

The Surrey Registration Service is responsible for the registration of 19,000 births, 11,000 deaths and 3,500 civil marriages occurring in the county of Surrey each year. The Weybridge Register Office also arranges ceremonies for 3,500 new British Citizens.

The Register Office is very busy with up to 5 customer appointments at the same time, as well as a ceremony with up to 40 guests. In addition, we often receive queries from other register offices. Weddings take place during the week where up to 40 people at a time need to be guided to the waiting area while other members of the public are coming in for their registration appointment.

You will work as part of the team whilst being proactive and using your initiative, carrying out a variety of administration duties. You will need to promote a positive image and first impression of the Registration service.

You will be required to greet members of the public visiting the Register Office, to log their arrival on the electronic diary and to direct them to the appropriate place in order to ensure that the office runs smoothly and resources are efficiently utilised.

Some of the main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Collate, record and post outgoing and ingoing correspondence
  • Show prospective customers around the ceremony rooms
  • Maintain the electronic and paper office filing and assist with the general administrative duties of the busy register office
  • Responsible for collating information, using spreadsheets to assist in the smooth running of the office
  • Receive visitors to the register office and provide basic information in a courteous manner to promote a positive image of the service.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • Experience of working in a busy office environment with a regular flow of customers
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing including dealing with customers where English is not their first language
  • Experience of working with members of the public.
