This is an exciting opportunity for a Radiographer to join our diagnostic team as we strive for continued excellence and improvement in all areas. The department is a friendly and supportive environment that provides its staff the opportunity to succeed in their goals; we are committed to supporting CPD and encourage role development. We are a busy diagnostic department located in The Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury, delivering high quality imaging in a Level 2 Trauma Centre for an Acute Trust.

Our Busy Radiology department provides both Inpatient and Outpatient services including a busy A&E department and varied theatre work. All our rooms contain DR equipment and Digital mobiles are in use for ward work. The department has 2 CT scanners and 2 Fluoroscopy/Intervention rooms as well as providing Nuclear Medicine, DEXA, Sonography and Angiography services. All band 5 Radiographers are supported to rotate through ED and General X-ray, Fluoroscopy and CT. To facilitate this you will receive IV cannulation training.

The role requires a commitment to the departments out of hour’s responsibilities; this will include some late and night shifts as well as the opportunity for additional shifts as the department continually adjusts to service requirements.

We have a comprehensive Induction and Probation Programme, which is linked to a competency-based structure throughout the department; this is an ideal supportive environment for new radiographers entering the profession. (Before starting as a Radiographer there is an option for students waiting for their HCPC number to start as an RDA or an AP; please ask at interview).

We also have strong links to Canterbury Christ Church University, to whom we provide clinical placements for radiography students.

The Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury is a new build site that opened in 2011 on the site of the old Pembury hospital which has been an important part of the community since it started its life as a Workhouse in 1836. The new hospital has 512 beds, and is the first NHS hospital where all main wards are comprised entirely of single en-suite bedrooms.

The Hospital is located on the edge of Royal Tunbridge Wells, recently voted second best place to live in Kent, right at the Heart of the garden of England while being close enough to London to enjoy the benefits of City life. The hospital is located in Pembury adjacent to the A21 and approximately 15 minutes’ walk from High Brooms Station which is on the Hastings line from London. The beautiful beaches of Kent and Sussex are only an hour away by car or train, and we are close to the Channel Tunnel and ports.

This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week although part time hours may be considered.

New members of staff will find themselves welcomed into a vibrant and friendly department that has an attitude of inclusivity. We have an active social group comprising staff from all Bands who meet regularly to socialise after the stresses of the day.

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service Check at enhanced level. (Enhanced level now includes regulated checks against vulnerable adults and children)

We are passionate in supporting our staff to develop and have great opportunities for career progression. We take equality and diversity seriously and seek to empower all diverse groups within our trust. We seek to develop a culture where diversity in all its forms is celebrated. We are committed to ensuring that women are empowered to work at all levels of management and that working patterns are as flexible as possible giving all members of staff opportunity to flourish in using their skills for our patients. We work across our trust to enable those who consider themselves to have a disability both visible and invisible to have access to all they need to thrive in their work environment. We work with Stonewall to embed an inclusive and accepting culture for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff. We have 78 nationalities working in our trust and we are proud of this. We are active in embracing the ethnic and cultural diversity in our trust. We work to empower people with any protected characteristic to have opportunities to work in an environment that helps them to contribute to the best of their ability, recognising and valuing the unique contributions each of us brings for best quality care and service to our patients. We are committed to supporting the delivery of the Equality Act with zero tolerance for any discrimination, harassment or victimisation of applicants and staff with these protected characteristics
