Job Summary

We are seeking to recruit a full time Radiographer to work at our clinic in Birmingham ( B29 7DU ).

The post holder will be expected to provide diagnostic service comprising of wholly unsupervised scanning sessions. They will be accountable for their own professional actions and expected to act as a source of expertise for external consultations by other clinicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessing patients and their clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques;

  • To undertake a range of Dental CT and Bone Density Scan in line with Local, Regional and National Guidelines.

  • To practice unsupervised providing a high standard of diagnostic imaging service to all users ensuring clinical safety at all times together with high quality patient care.

  • Have a degree of personal and professional autonomy. Have the ability to make clinical judgements and critical decisions of the highest order, using knowledge, skills and experience.

  • To provide high standards of patient care in a safe, clean and tidy working environment, observing all company policies and maintaining professional and personal standards.

  • Participate in training programme.

  • Be prepared to participate, lead or have a key role in Department and Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and contribute to patients’ databases.

  • Be willing to collect and have an active role in audit and clinical governance activities as directed by the Lead Radiographer, consultant radiologists and/or medical director.

  • To be committed to lifelong learning and produce evidence of CPD, thus maintaining 'fitness to practice’ in accordance with the Radiographic Code of Professional Conduct.

  • To daily facilitate the department’s helper i.e.: Answer phones, make or amend appointments, greet patients and check details and enter details on the Radiology Computer system.

  • To remain up-to-date with the changes and current trends in diagnostic procedures.

  • To maintain the highest personal, professional and diagnostic standards.

  • To adhere to the company Health and Safety Policies and to use any equipment or personal protective equipment provided safely.

  • To respond to the needs of the company as necessary.

Supplementary Information

Communication and Relationship Skills

  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

  • To act upon complex information received from Consultants and to communicate effectively with them.

Knowledge, Training and Experience

Essential:

  • HCPC registration

  • Diploma of the Society of Radiographers or BSc equivalent.

  • Work permit to work in the UK.

  • Plans and prioritises own workload, accepting urgent referrals and additions to the list as required whilst maintaining an efficient throughput of patients and ensuring best patient care at all times

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of relevant company policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures (including CT Dent and Bone Density policies and procedures).
