Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Salary: Up to £35,000 (dependent on experience)

Builders Beams is the largest structural steel fabricator in the South East of England and have been supplying structural steelwork and reinforcing material to the construction industry for over 20 years. The company is currently growing at an annual rate of 20% and a central part of this growth is maintaining an effective, efficient, motivated and happy workforce. With this in mind, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, self-motivated individual to join our busy commercial department as a Quantity Surveyor based at Crawley.
As part of the Commercial team the successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial and contractual performance of multiple new projects within the South East

The Role

Main Duties:
• Setting up and maintaining a commercial management systems for all project works
• Legal and contractual review of documentation from clients to ensure compatibility and compliance for both parties
• Liaising with estimator on scope and cost issues for project control
• Sub-letting all packages within the cost plan limits, ensuring all necessary documentation (e.g. insurances) is in place
• Management of variation accounts for projects, ensuring timely agreement and payment, including maintenance of EO register
• Timely submission, agreement and closure of final accounts
• Providing link between projects and Finance regarding applications, debts, contracts and the like
• Involvement tender submissions as required
• Post tender involvement with team to secure contract and transition once secured

The successful candidate will have:

• A Degree in Quantity Surveying or a similar discipline, or equivalent experience
• A Good working knowledge of Standard form contracts particularly JCT Design and Build Form
• Previous experience in Quantity Surveying within a relevant business environment
• An understanding of steel fabrication
• Excellent IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
• MRICS is preferable but not essential

The Successful candidate will be:
• An excellent communicator both written and verbally
• Able to multitask and work well under pressure
• An excellent organiser with proven time management skills
