I have a fantastic opportunity with a company who work in the utility company based in Reading. This role is a permanent positon and is Monday to Friday and full time 37.5 hours a week.

Quantity surveyor - Job Purpose

You will work as part of a Quantity surveyor forming part of the group commercial team. The client currently assure a variety of different contracts, our alliances and have recently taken on the commercial assurance of our facilities contracts

You will primarily be responsible for all the commercial aspects of the contracts allocated to you by the facilities contract manager. The QS team also provide commercial support for a wide variety of other projects so there is more than enough diversity of work in the portfolio to entertain an enthusiastic quantity surveyor.

You must have experience in Annual auditing and final accounting, estimating and cost forecasting. Assessing applications for payment and ensuring that they are made on time and in accordance with the various forms of Contracts. Agreeing target costs for work and carrying out rate reviews to establish value for money. Assisting the contract managers with the implementation of robust commercial processes. Providing commercial advice and guidance to other team members as required.

You must be able to take ownership of tasks, think on your feet, devise a plans of action and delvers effective solutions. You must be able to work autonomously and be confident as well as professional at all times. It is essential that you are inquisitive and have a meticulous attention to detail. To be successful in this role you will need to be a team-player. You should have the ability to hold your ground and offer reasoned advice in a fast-paced environment. A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent is required for this role. In depth knowledge of building construction is preferable. Dedication, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and develop is also fundamental to success within this role.
