Quantity Surveyor

The Role

Here at Fortem we have had a very successful start to 2018 with various contract wins within the Midlands region, including a place on the Scape Framework. Due to this success we are pleased to confirm we are currently seeking a driven and professional Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This is a full time, permanent role based in the Midlands with travel throughout Warwickshire, Leicestershire & Northamptonshire to be expected.

As the Quantity Surveyor, you will negotiate with partners and control the commercial aspects of the supply chain in order to gear maximum leverage and create economically advantageous arrangements for Fortem. You will build long term, influential relationships with preferred suppliers to provide flexibility to changing business needs. You will also be responsible for ensuring contract compliance therefore understanding of NEC Contracts is essential.

The Project

Fortem have been awarded a place on the Scape Regional Construction Framework covering the South Midlands offering a variety of project types or programmes of work for the public sector in the region, including: New Build and Extensions, Refurbishment, Planned Remedial Works, Design and Build, Buildability Advice, Risk Management, Feasibility Support, Site Surveys and Post Occupancy Support. Project value will vary between £500k and £2.5m.

Essential and Desirable Criteria

Essential Criteria:

  • Data interrogation skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • QS degree or equivalent
  • Contractual awareness
  • Negotiating, communication & presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain management

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of management accounts
  • Accounting skills
  • Excellent Access skills
  • Re-measurement skills
  • Commercial contractor exposure
