Quantity Surveyor - Jersey

Quantity Surveyor required to join a world leading multinational construction consultancy, working within their office in Jersey. The client has 20 integrated offices in the UK and Jersey alone with many more throughout the world. As one of the largest construction consultancies in the UK and Jersey, my client has a number of multi-million pound projects due to commence within a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, local and national government, funding institutions, retail and commercial property and transportation and logistics.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, and plenty of industry experience to supplement their qualifications. A strong knowledge of working for a consultancy within the Construction Industry will be integral to the successful delivery of this role. Due to the location, it is envisaged that candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to Jersey.

Quantity Surveyor Position Overview

  • Conducting feasibility studies and writing procurement reports
  • Applying value management techniques at the outset of a project
  • Managing estimating and cost planning activities, to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan
  • Managing the procurement process, ensuring that all stages (including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract preparation) are performed effectively
  • Ensuring that cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
  • Ensuring correct production of monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
  • Value engineering and lifecycle costing
  • Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed
  • Taking a lead role in interfacing with the client and other consultants at all project stages
  • Where appropriate, leading a cost management team and ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of the team

Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Ideally a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS)
  • A minimum of two years' technical delivery experience gained within a global construction consultancy
  • Pre- and post-contract experience
  • Ability to run projects with minimal supervision and to attend project meetings independently
