Quantity Surveyor / Estimator (Midlands Region)

Our client is an award-winning specialist painting and decorating contractor, who also provides a wide range of services across all aspects of this industry, including building maintenance, refurbishment and minor civils.

They are now looking for an enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor to join their small, friendly team undertaking reactive and planned building maintenance and minor civils work, mainly within the utilities sector. The work is carried out across the East and West Midlands, with some travel to Head Office in West Yorkshire required from time to time.

This is a long-standing family business that is committed to its people, and the successful candidate will have autonomy and room to progress, with fantastic opportunities for growth and development. If you’re part way through your QS qualification, you will be supported to complete your studies.

Location:  Belper, Derbyshire (with travel across the East and West Midlands)

Salary:  up to £32,000 + Car + Bonus

Job role:

- Pricing and pre-measurement for upcoming works
- Ongoing measurements and pricing of variations
- Measurement and valuation of final accounts for high volumes of completed work using a bespoke schedule of rates
- Answering queries in relation to measured term contracts
- Communication with Contracts Managers who will oversee the running of ongoing projects
- Developing relationships with new and existing customers, making sure that all customers receive an excellent service
- Involvement in managing project costs alongside Contracts Managers to deliver planned financial result on completion

About you:

- Experience within a QS role, preferably from a contracting environment
- A passion for delivering the highest quality customer service
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong spatial and numerical ability
- Good I.T skills especially with Microsoft Office
- Ability to show initiative and to work independently
- Full driving licence

This role would suit a Junior QS looking to develop their career, or an experienced QS looking for a new challenge in a great place to work.

The role is offered on a full time basis, but part time or flexi hours would be considered for the right person.

If you’re part or full QS qualified this would be advantageous, and RICS membership is a plus.
