Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) is part of the Group Chief Operating Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Bank's businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank.

The Platform Engineering team are responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of components across the Kannon Risk and Profit and Loss (P&L) platform which covers Risk and P&L production, transformation and distribution to the rest of the Bank.

In this role you will be working within a team of specialists and be responsible for solving complex business and technical issues, working across the complete development lifecycle to deliver business change via an agile approach and direct engagement with stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities
  • Work directly with business users to understand business and technical requirements
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of solutions including the creation of frameworks to control and validate solutions once in production
  • Code solutions (mainly in Python) yourself or delegate to other team members
  • Provide third and fourth level support to ensure our production systems are stable and fit for purpose
  • Mentor other staff members
  • Provide thought leadership for the team
Your skills and experience
  • Understanding of Risk and P&L for Fixed Income products
  • Demonstrable ability to turn business requirements into long term stable solutions
  • Experience of server-side development in Python
  • Experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the technical tools to support that (Git, BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence, TeamCity)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to break down and explain complex requirements
  • Direct supervision of other team members and experience of delegating tasks and responsibilities an advantage
