Quality Technician

Our Global client has a vacancy for a Quality Technician to carry out the day to day functions consistent with the smooth operation of the Quality Management System aiming to exceed customers’ expectations through analysis on customer returns and the implementation of corrective actions.

This role is offered as a temporary full time contract for the next 3 - 6 months, possibly longer.

Key Tasks

  • Carry out goods inwards inspections in accordance with SAP work list and norms

  • Quarantine material both physically and on SAP

  • Write test reports to suppliers, including detailed measurements and explanations

  • Carry out stock checks in response to customer complaints or goods in inspections

  • Return non-conforming materials to supplier, and debit them where applicable

  • Inspect anodised or powder coated material either at MK, or at the coater

  • Inspect materials at customer premises

  • Process customer complaints in a timely manner, and communicate the outcome

  • Answer technical queries, and provide support on quality issues to other departments

  • Support the Quality Manager in the implementation of projects

  • Liaise with other departments to ensure issues are managed efficiently and effectively

  • Keep quality area and office clean and tidy, and maintain housekeeping list

  • Act as a deputy in the Quality Manager’s absence i.e. attend and contribute to the Operations morning meetings, manage large complaints, liaise with Group Office and/or suppliers

  • Manage calibration system

Essential Skills

  • Previous proven experience within a quality-focused role, ideally in a manufacturing logistics environment

  • A systematic approach to root cause analysis

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Analytical and meticulous

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel and Word

  • Ability to write concise and detailed reports

  • Proven experience of working in a team environment

  • Clean UK driving licence

Additional/Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of quality standards and experience of writing quality procedures

  • SAP knowledge advantageous

  • Experience in internal auditing

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001

Supporting information

  • Lives within daily commuting distance of Milton Keynes
  • Office based, with requirement to travel to suppliers or customers when necessary
