Quality Engineer, global leader in electro/mechanical assemblys to the worlds leading OEM's, Extensive customer liason.
Work within local team to deliver products that meet customer technical and quality requirements
Act as interface for customer issues post SOP - both 0km and warranty
Support customer quality reviews.
A significant proportion of the time will be spent at customer locations in the UK.
Some foreign travel may be required, potentially at short notice.
Liaise with customer and company design to assure customer defined quality assurance documents are delivered on time to the required standard for all projects and product changes.
Liaise with OEM and Tier 1 to assure company products assembled as specified, or to address issues which arise associated with company products both in production and in the market. This will include analysis at production site and within the company, the setting up of containment at customer and at third parties.
Liaise with company manufacturing sites and company design to address issues which cannot be solved locally. This will include using internal systems to log and progress individual issues.
Liaise with customer to acquire production and warranty data.
Technical communication with the customer for quality issues or process / product changes, proposals for solving relevant issues towards the customer in accordance with company strategies.
Responsibility and Key Tasks
Working with local teams, assist in the collection and analysis of customer requirements and share this within the relevant company organisation.
Analyse relevant customer standards and inform the relevant company organisation about consequences and risks.
Be a competent contact person for the customer and for company production plants with respect to the quality issues in all product phases.
Co-ordinate the claim handling process including relevant documentation.
Make decisions regarding blocking and releasing of goods and co-ordinate nonconforming products.
Skills, Education and Training
Professional Knowledge and Experience
Positive, open co-operative attitude
Relevant Degree or HND plus qualified by experience
Comfortable in front of customer - excellent communication/interpersonal skills
APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC - worked in a TS16949 environment
System Integration with OEM
Automotive or industry with similar constraints, vehicle interior issues
Electrical and Mechanical systems
Software/firmware development and test
Working for a non-UK owned organisation - cultural differences
Understanding of Automotive product environmental constraints
