Quality Assurance Technologist

My client, a company specialising in food products and ingredients is looking to recruit a Quality Assurance Technologist on along-term temporary contract to cover maternity leave.

As a suitable candidate, you will have at least 3-4 years’ experience in technical roles within the food industry. You will be passionate about what you do, strive for excellence and looking for an interesting and varied working environment. Most of all you will be a team player who has excellent customer communication skills and is used to working in a fast paced environment.

The main aspects of this role include

• Responsible for managing and maintaining compliance with the company’s quality management system and ensuring the business continues to meet the requirements for BRC certification
• Conducting supplier audits where required to ensure suppliers meet the company’s supplier approval criteria
• Contribute to the overall quality management system and promote best practice in food safety, quality and legality
• Keep up to date with regulatory and legislative developments that may impact the products traded by the company
• Respond to customer format questionnaires and technical queries
• Lead the HACCP team
• Maintain product specifications database and be responsible to creation of new product specifications
• Manage the customer complaints process

The role requires:

• A strong customer focus with the ability to communicate with customers on a routine basis
• An ability to work within a team and with other departments, demonstrate a flexible approach to work and manage time critical assignments that involve varying degrees of complexity
• Good English comprehension, good written and spoken English and be able to understand and interpret regulations and produce work that is accurate and concise.
• Attention to detail and accuracy of documents is a crucial pre-requisite to being successful in the role
• Level 3 HACCP, food safety auditing and BRC experience
• Experience managing quality management systems
• Competent IT skills including MS Excel
• Knowledge of microbiology a plus

The salary on offer is between £22-£27,000 DOE.
