Quality and Compliance Manager - Hire Sector
For over 40 years Lifting Gear Hire has been synonymous with safety, service and lifting. With 300 employees in 20 locations in Europe and the USA, this hire sector business relaunched their UK operations in 2016 and now is focused on growing their UK business with quality products and outstanding service. With such strong foundations and expertise, the business is looking to recruit a new position of Quality and Compliance Manager.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Quality and Compliance Manager will have day to day responsibility for all areas of Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental & Transport (TMS). Additionally, there will be opportunities to assist in the wider commercial activities of the business where an involvement with reporting and analysis will require the development of an understanding of areas such as profit & loss, MI reporting and analytical assessments etc.
The Quality and Compliance Manager will play a leading role in attaining and maintaining all associated certifications such as ISO9001, ISO14000, OHSAS18000, FORS, Achilles, FPAL, LEEA Membership etc. and in a broader context, with the commercial elements included, in time become a key member of the wider management team.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Quality Assurance
Working in conjunction with the Commercial Manager and our QHSE Consultant, work towards attaining certification to ISO9000; other quality related accreditations such as Achilles; internal/external audits; manage and report all internal/external non-conformances and preventative actions; police the approved suppliers; customer vendor appraisals; regular audits at each location; and review Quality systems and processes.
2. Occupational Health & Safety
Working in conjunction with the Commercial Manager and our QHSE Consultant towards attaining certification to OHSAS18000; produce and maintain H&S safety statistics; near miss reporting and produce summary reports and remedial action plans; ensure continuing compliance with our Hire Association Europe Safe Hire certification; site audits at each location; review all OHSAS systems and processes and propose improvements where appropriate; and ensure fire related compliance.
Working in conjunction with the Commercial Manager and our QHSE Consultant, work towards attaining certification to ISO14001; conduct and minute Bi-Monthly Environmental meetings; regular site audits at each location, cover of all relevant aspects of Environmental matters and review all Environmental systems and processes and propose improvements where appropriate.
4. Transport Management
The Quality and Compliance Manager will Work in conjunction with the Commercial Manager to maintain FORS Bronze and work towards attaining FORS Silver certification - Gold thereafter; manage and report on all FORS training for all relevant staff, especially drivers; ensure weekly vehicle sheets are submitted; ensure all vehicles are maintained within the prescribe periods; and ensure that driver assessments take place at least annually and are recorded accordingly.
Good knowledge of Excel and able to interrogate spreadsheets to filter & sort and calculate; create visual presentation of data through graphs and charts and assist the business in data analysis and provide recommendations as and when required.
Review the Work Equipment and LOLER registers to ensure full compliance throughout in terms of level of information and test dates are current.
Skills & Experience
The Quality and Compliance Manager ideal candidate will probably be a relatively inexperienced QHSE practitioner or an analytical/ commercial individual but you will have the desire and drive coupled with training, to manage a varied and exciting role.
