Here at On a Roll Sandwich Company, we are looking to strengthen our quality department by employing a QA Assistant.

The Role

To oversee quality related operations and activities as well as the workers performing those jobs; this includes auditing and inspecting the site process and controls.

  • Working with QA Manager to implement full QA system throughout production areas

  • To collect micro samples for finished products, raw materials, WIP products, shelf life, water and carry-out swabbing on floors, drains, equipment and hands, and do air plates according to micro schedule. To ensure that all samples are registered and sent to lab for testing;

  • To ensure out of micro results are retested according to the procedure in the place;

  • Fully understand and assist in cascading the QA system to all employees within the production areas. (Goods In, Low Care, High Care, Picking & Dispatch)

  • Liaise with Production Managers and Supervisors to ensure the highest standard of food safety and quality

  • To document all process deviations and non-conforming products by raising non-conformances, concession, hold note and supplier non-conformances and follow all those for proper corrective actions. All process deviation and non-conforming products must be recorded on the relevant logs;

  • Daily GMP/Fabrication/Product/Quality audits

  • To ensure all daily documents and paperwork are checked and verified

  • Internal audits completed to BRCQMS

  • Carry out Induction training and any other reasonable tasks that are required as part of the needs of the business.

  • Liaise with suppliers with regard to product quality and specification.

  • Coach and mentor production operatives on the correct completion of all QA paperwork.

  • Ideal Candidate Background

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills and a desire to learn

  • Flexible due to rota incorporating weekend work

  • It would be advantageous to have:

  • Technical/Quality background with a proven experience in a Quality Assurance role;

  • Possess the appropriate level of technical knowledge and ability;

  • Experience of working in a chilled food manufacturing environment;

  • HACCP, food safety and auditing skills trained a plus.

  • Need to be fully flexible with working hours & weekend working is essential.
