Purchasing Manager - Engineering

I am currently recruiting on behalf of my client who is an extremely successful & established specialist engineering firm who are on the lookout for a Purchasing Manager to join them. They boast an expansive product range and distribute globally and have multi-million pound contracts.
Working week - Monday to Friday - Flexible hours between 7:30am-6:00pm - 7.5 hours a day with a 1 hour lunch.
-Sourcing all materials/services required whilst obtaining competitive quotations from approved suppliers in a timely manner.
-Ensuring that you utilise the company Materials Requirements Planning system and working closely with the stores team to ensure optimum stock levels.
-Ensuring that you are enforcing timely conversions of requisitions to purchase orders
-Gaining order acknowledgements and expedite to project requirements
-Ensuring that you are highlighting any problems/concerns to the purchasing manager e.g. part supply
-Ensuring that you are identifying savings where possible and materialising them
-Communicating with other departments e.g. planning + engineers regarding parts issues.
-Working with other departments for joint projects/strategies
-Ensuring all procurement activities are in line with company policy
-Ensuring all information including purchase trails are accurately inputted on the system for audits ect.
-Communicating with suppliers/relevant parties e.g. transit time for due orders.
-And other relevant duties as required.
What we are looking for
-Previous experience working within Purchasing/Buying in the engineering industry.
-Comfortable working in a team but also individually
-Ability to strategically plan and consider multiple issues to gain the best solution.
-Confident communicator e.g. able to question transit times from suppliers and resolve issues.
-Confident and skilled using systems such as Microsoft package (Excel skills are a must)
