Purchasing Manager (12 Month FTC)

Working across the Volkswagen Group (UK) and Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) businesses, you will be a highly experienced Purchasing Manager responsible for leading and owning our purchasing activities across the UK in line with our Global Purchasing Framework. You’ll take ownership for the education of the business on policy and process and drive a culture of cost reduction whilst maintaining high quality and standards.

About the role

  • You’ll take ownership for managing our supplier cost and performance drivers across the business, putting in place strategies and levers designed to ensure that the company’s strategic ambition of sustainable profitable growth is met.

  • Ensure that all of our suppliers are selected, approved and contracted in accordance with our global company’s policies and procedures.

  • Develop strategies and initiatives to ensure that category cost saving and supplier performance targets are achieved or exceeded.

  • Create and lead relevant training sessions and upskill the business on procurement policy and process.

  • Successfully negotiate with suppliers regarding prices, commercial terms and conditions in line with business policy and process.

  • Ensure that all key supplier contracts have appropriate and stretching KPI’s focused on the delivery of class leading performance and value for money.

  • Establish and lead cross-functional teams to manage the development of category strategies in support of overall business objectives.

  • Define and develop proposals to automate sourcing activities within the category in order to improve department efficiency and responsiveness.

  • Build productive working relationships with VWAG’s (HQ) purchasing team to ensure alignment with global category strategies.

About you

  • You’ll have a detailed understanding of procurement strategies within a medium to large organisation ideally with experience within either a regulated multinational organisation or Automotive/Financial Services environment.

  • Experience of working in a purchasing role at a senior level across categories with a spend responsibility of £50million+.

  • Ability to successfully manage complex supplier relationships and supply chains including strong negotiation skills.

  • You’ll have good investigative skills with a high level of resilience and a focus on building strong communication routes across the business.

  • You’ll have strong analytical skills with the ability to deliver difficult information clearly and concisely within the procurement function and other internal stake holders.

  • MCIPS qualification is desirable but not essential.
