Purchasing Assistant for leading Engineering firm in Co. Derry, up to £25,000
Your new company
You will be joining a leading Engineering company with well-established global links, based in the surrounding area of Co. Derry. They pride themselves on quality focused products to a variety of industries with attention to detail and great customer service. Due to expansion and plans for growth in 2018, they are seeking to recruit another member to their successful Procurement department on a permanent full time basis.
Your new role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will take a proactive approach in expediting current systems and processes whilst making recommendations, implementing improvement changes and delivering key support for the procurement function. The Purchasing Assistant will liaise closely with a team of Buyers to communicate material schedules and price fluctuations whilst helping to maintain key relationships with new and existing global suppliers. Also, you will work between sales, engineering, logistics and production teams with use of internal MRP software. If required, you will be involved with supplier outsourcing projects and actively involved with establishing new relationships and agree contract terms/negotiable price and supply agreements.
What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience working within a high volume purchasing, supply chain or material planning team will lead to success, preferably within an engineering or manufacturing environment. Also, candidates must be competent using various Microsoft packages and external software for purchasing or planning with strong communication skills and proven experience in reducing material spend or developing a supplier base. A qualification or working towards CIPS is not essential but highly beneficial.
