Publication Editor

My client is a well-established niche publisher of news, articles and market reviews for the rapidly growing and evolving global receivables finance sector.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Publications Editor will be required to manage all aspects of three existing annual publications, and to research topics and commission contributors for new books and special reports.

You’ll make sure everything runs smoothly in the publication process from commissioning content right through to the finished product by managing the process in the best possible way.

Your duties will include researching new titles, generating ideas, commissioning, editing, briefing our designer, and scheduling. You will also work with marketing and sales, and to ensure your books are commercially successful.

This role will suit someone with publishing experience, ideally in a commercial finance sector. But what’s more important is a passion to succeed, vision, creativity, new ideas, excellent communications skills and attention to detail.

Main duties:
• Planning publications schedules and ensuring all deadlines are met;

• Commissioning editorial content for new publications and managing existing publications plus special reports
• Responsible for production of publications. This involves liaising with printers and designers, proofreading and editing;

• Ensuring publication directories are up to date and correct;

• Working with the marketing team to produce marketing material including press releases

Essential skills/experience:

• Good proof reading skills and attention to detail
• Well-organised
• Analytical and numerate
• Confident telephone manner and communication skills
• Good computer skills (mainly MS Office)
• Team player
• Five years publishing experience
