We are looking for a Environmental health officer to cover for a 9/12 month period of time with Stockport council.

This role is Full-time (37 hrs/week)

We are looking to recruit an experienced officer to work in workplace health & safety and food safety within the Commercial & Trading Standards team.

Our client is part of the Public Protection Service based in Fred Perry House in the centre of Stockport, 5 minutes away from the bus and train stations and the M60. 

The Commercial & Trading Standards Team is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of a wide range of legislation including that relating to food hygiene and standards, workplace health and safety, infectious diseases, animal health and welfare, product safety, legal metrology, illicit tobacco, counterfeit products, unroadworthy vehicles and age restricted products.

The successful applicant will help to protect the food supply chain and workers’ health and safety within the Borough by carrying out inspections, enforcement and advisory work, investigating fatalities, accidents and complaints and taking food samples.  You will also participate in the duty systems.

You must have worked as an authorised officer under section 19 of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and hold a relevant qualification such as a Diploma/BSc/MSc in Environmental Health, or NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent with relevant experience.

You must be qualified and competent in accordance with the current Food Law Code of Practice and have recent experience working in food safety in a Local Authority.

We are currently working from home and we are unlikely to return the office for a full week on a permanent basis.  

£17.06 PAYE

£24.83 Umbrella rate
