2x Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner / Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner – 1 year Fixed Term Contract

£24,907 – £30,615 per annum
NHS AFC Band 5 (Qualified)

or £21,892 - £24,157 per annum NHS AfCBand 4 (Trainee)

37.5 Hours per week including 1 evening per week.

Are you a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Looking for a new challenge? Or are you seeking training to become a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Wellbeing Service based in the North Staffordshire Team (IAPT).

Individuals will have either gained the IAPT Post-Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Interventions, or be willing to undertake training to qualify in this role. All suitable candidates will preferably have experience of working in IAPT, or in the field of mental health. You must be able to demonstrate high standards of verbal and written communication; be able to establish good therapeutic relationships with people and be computer literate. Newly qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

We will consider applications from aspiring trainee PWPs if we do not receive suitable applications for qualified candidates. Applicants for trainee posts will need recent experience of working with people with mental health problems, and be a graduate or have equivalent qualifications in a relevant profession. A good knowledge and understanding of the IAPT programme for Common Mental Health Disorders, particularly the PWP role within stepped-care, will be essential.
Trainee PWPs will be given in-house clinical training, and supported to apply for the Postgraduate Certificate Level Course in Low Intensity Interventions at Birmingham University. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a sought-after qualification in the field of psychological therapies for anyone starting out or wanting to further their psychological therapies career.

At the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Wellbeing service we offer PWPs high quality supervision and opportunities for continual professional development. PWPs are supported to become proficient in psychological assessment, delivering a range of low-intensity psychological treatments for anxiety disorders and depression - psycho-education, behavioural activation, medication management, problem solving and guided self-help.
As an early implementer integrated IAPT Service the successful candidate will be at the forefront of IAPT Developments and receive additional specialist in-house training in a range of relevant clinical areas, such as dealing with long-term physical conditions, medically unexplained symptoms and research methodology. All PWPs are encouraged and supported to develop their role by pursuing clinical and research interests, and becoming service champions in specific areas.

We are a friendly, ambitious and academic team, and PWPs are encouraged to carry out research projects, utilising our links with both Staffordshire and Keele Universities. This is therefore an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, self-motivated individual wishing to progress their clinical career in psychological therapies.
