The firm is keen to add a design focus to everything they do, but as the nature of their schemes are people focused, it is essential that everything they draw can be built. Currently 75% of projects are undertaken in Revit (either full or LT) and the firm is currently revising its proposals to achieve BIM Level 2.
The Project Technician / Technologist + BIM Coordinator role will therefore have the ability, skills and motivation to act as an independent project lead, working with junior staff as well as with and support from senior staff.
As BIM Manager you will also be expected to support management and coordinate, lead and implement the IT and BIM strategies across the practice, including readying and conforming to BIM level 2, working with Revit and NBS.
Key Responsibilities include:
*Taking responsibility for leading and managing projects from later design / planning stages (RIBA 3 onwards), through development of design and all necessary stages or applications for statutory approvals, production information, specifications, tender process, including carrying out inspections of projects on site, as defined by the RIBA Plan of Work;
*Managing project profitability and organisation of resources and co-ordination of projects, including managing variations of brief or instructions and action to recover additional fees;
*Understanding of building technologies and environmental design and ability to employ structural practice, construction techniques and processes relevant to the production of information encompassing all stages of the RIBA Plan of Work;
*Support and mentor other staff, with direction from senior staff;
*Undertake client facing role and understand the professional duty of care arising from the relationships between clients and architects, employer and employee;
*In-depth working knowledge of Revit and BIM enabling applications
*Experience of working in a project coordination role for BIM applications
Skills & Experience:
*Chartered Technologist or HND / HNC with preferably 2 years PQE
*BRE BIM / Information Manager Qualification (or equivalent) desirable
*Excellent technical skills
*Excellent computer aided drafting skills - Revit essential
*Good ability to use computer design / administration software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office Suite
*Sense of Humour
