It’s an exciting time to join, as in 2017 CAF celebrated its 100th year, and announced plans to build a new state-of-the art assembly hub in Newport. The new assembly hub is being designed to build a range of different trains, including diesel multiple units (DMUs), electric multiple units (EMUs), trams and high speed trains.

Job Summary

The Project Quality Engineer is responsible for final acceptance of the trains by the Customer, manage documentation and coordinate activities to ensure that the quality of the final product is up to the highest standards.

The job requires to liaise with Customers regarding product acceptance, reviews of specifications and modifications and also to report Quality concerns raised back to the applicable manufacturing plant.

Key Responsibilities:


Manage quality projects to meet specific requirements and satisfy customers.

Participate in various improvement plans.

Be able to investigate and identify possible risks.

Work towards improving business processes to ensure high quality of products.

Support projects by facilitating adequate communication with all stakeholders.

Assist manufacturing with analysis and problem solving as required.

Conduct analysis to produce indicators, statistics and presentations.

Work to promote quality culture throughout the Company.

Manage priorities in-line with objectives.

Ensure compliance with all UK HSE legislation and HSE Company policy.

Be fully familiar and conversant with department and Company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are fully compliant at all times.

Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager.

Ensure all work carried out is compliant with organisational quality management systems / policies and procedures.

Other ad-hoc duties and special projects as required.


Qualification in a Technical or Quality discipline


In-depth experience working in Quality in a similar industry such as transportation, manufacturing, aerospace etc.

Strong Quality Systems knowledge.

Excellent IT skills including experience of Microsoft packages including Excel.

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

Able to maintain accurate records.

Able to work flexibly across a broad range of activities as the role evolves.

Able to respond and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced pressured environment.

Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
