An exciting opportunity has arisen for a six month Graduate Internship, working as a Project Officer in the Gateway Rough Sleeping and Homelessness Services Team in Croydon Council. Gateway Services prevents crisis and supports individuals and families to achieve financial and housing stability. The opportunity is to support delivery of rough sleeping initiatives and commissioning of single homelessness services. The service has attracted over £1m in grant funding over the last year and we are implementing new and innovative services.

The council has commissioned a significant number of partners to delivery services across Croydon, and are looking for creative solutions to address rough sleeping, such as the creation of an all year shelter. We are looking to recruit a professional, enthusiastic and hardworking Project Officer to support this work.
The roles have no limits on the level of involvement and ownership the successful candidate would be able to achieve, so would suit people with commitment, enthusiasm, flexibility, ability to learn quickly and with an abundance of talent. You will be working alongside the Gateway & Welfare Contract & Commissioning Manager and our delivery partners, providing an excellent opportunity to develop business change skills for the public sector. The role will involve tasks such as:
- Providing project oversight, creating and monitoring timelines
- Researching best practice, drafting recommendations and business plans
- Collating and reporting on data to central government
- Leading small project groups to implement actions within the project plan
- Liaison with internal and external partners
The candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a strong project skills. Work experience in projects or partnership working is desirable.
- Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree
- Ideally experienced with MS package
- Strong people skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- An ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
- Ability to work and deliver within a project structure.
- Time management and prioritisation skills are highly important along with a strong attention to detail.
- An understanding of project management is desirable.
