As the Project Manager - Chemical Engineering you will work closely with a team of highly-skilled engineers to commission and build process plants around the UK and Ireland.
The Project Manager - Chemical Engineering will develop & execute projects (typically £1M - £10M), this includes feasibility studies, estimates and proposals for both internal projects and third party sales across all business areas in the UK & Ireland. You will be responsible for the delivery of approved engineering projects safely, on time and in budget to meet the needs of the business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Chemical or related industries like - Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical. Engineering wise, their projects tend to be focused around mechanical / electrical engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities for the Project Manager - Chemical Engineering job will include:
*Utilise company procedures in the execution and delivery of projects safely, on budget and on time.
*To be commercially astute in ensuring that project design/costs developed are competitive & fit for purpose to support the business to deliver the required returns/win new 3rd party sales while balancing SHEQ requirements.
*Responsible for identifying and controlling project risk including through ensuring that the appropriate project execution strategies are implemented. This includes variation management to increase sales and limiting/controlling supplier/contractor variations.
*To plan, manage and co-ordinate engineering resource (internal & external) to execute projects
*SHEQ - Manage resources to ensure that all activities under span of responsibility are performed effectively and safely and carried out within the legislative and Management Systems frameworks e.G. IMSS standards, Health & Safety at Work Act, COMAH Regulations, COSHH, WSOE, PSSR, ISO9001, ISO14001 etc.
Required Skills/Experience - Functional / Technical of the Project Manager - Chemical Engineering job:
*Proven track record of delivering projects on time, cost and to appropriate SHEQ standards
*Competent in project and programme management including both contracting and operating company environments, proposals, tendering, sub-contract activity, financial/cost management.
*Experience of developing the commercial arrangements for projects (customer & supplier) and managing variations
*Experience of projects which have included automation elements would be beneficial
*Engineering degree or equivalent plus several years' practical industrial experience (post graduate scheme or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. Or the equivalent practical, conceptual and theoretical knowledge and experienced gained through continuous and sustained growth in a range of increasingly complex engineering roles.
*Experience working in the Chemical, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, Pharmaceutical, or related Industry
*Experience of projects in the nuclear sector would be an advantage, but not essential.
