Project Engineer

As part of a European team, the Project Engineer will report directly to the UK Manufacturing Engineering Manager with a dotted line responsibility to Sales Director on related project work.

To be responsible for ensuring that all projects and project follow-ups are completed and introduced on-time, within scope and within budget.

The role will require a hands-on approach with the ability to cover a number of disciplines and manage multiple projects are any one time.

This is a Plant based role on site in South East Wales although occasional international travel will be required for the fulfillment of duties.

Responsibilities:

Ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

Coordinating with internal colleagues and organizing resources for the flawless execution of projects

Liaising with Customers, Vendors & necessary third parties as required in completion of tasks

Working with US based engineering department on the development and introduction of new products where required ensuring technical feasibility and specified performance levels

Chairing project follow-up and status meetings.

Following APQP guidelines for project introduction ensuring that relevant processes are followed and documentary evidence and spend details are accurately maintained.

Creating reports and project updates on statuses on a regular basis and attending project calls with US Engineering team.

Supporting the Sales teams with step by step support and updates to successful project completion.

Giving any necessary support with required packaging specs, tooling requirements, layouts, risk assessments or related internal documentation

Providing all necessary documentation for internal part number costing, set-up and introduction.

Involvement and recording of results on product testing where necessary

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Knowledge of operating within the automotive industry is desirable.

  • Demonstrate previous experience of successful and timely project introductions

  • A solid Engineering background and both technically and commercially astute.

  • High levels of personal integrity and able to sustain / maintain the company's Quality system and APQP requirements

  • Experience with Quality PPAP documentation.

  • Ability to contribute toward product enhancement or cost saving opportunities to provide profitable / optimal solutions to customers and internal teams

  • Personable and convincing personality

  • Good communicator through written, verbal and presentational channels.

  • A decision-maker with appropriate technical, analytical skills and problem solving abilities

  • Solid organization including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
