An exciting opportunity for a Project Architect to join a busy leading energy provider for an initial period of

5 months. As the Project Architect you will support the business initiatives and be responsible for the definition of HLA, CAD, TAD and occasional PDDs for enterprise change projects in line with enterprise architecture and leveraging enterprise solutions. The Project Architect will be responsible for approval of supplier's detailed designs and supplier assurance of architectural deliverables for Enterprise IT change and will act as a point of reference in specialist areas related to the change project.

Accountabilities

  • Ensure the appropriate delivery of architecture and design changes within projects, as well as providing technical assurance of the project architecture deliverables;
  • Develop the products required to achieve that target architecture. This work will be carried out in conjunction with the Enterprise Programme Management function.
  • Provide leadership, oversight and co-ordination of architectural reviews/input. In conjunction with the Enterprise Programme Management, enforce compliance with the overall architecture, standards and IT strategy developed for the division through proactive supervision of projects and project architect(s);
  • Idea Assessment & Planning (Corporate Enterprise projects)
  • High level solution option definition
  • Solution options review and assessment
  • Indicative resource, cost & time estimation
  • High level cost / benefit analysis and rationale development
  • Provide technology liaison to programs and projects in their initial phases, giving advice on how business ideas can be best supported by new IS and technology solutions
  • Deliver relevant business case architectural input to programmes and projects to maximise the value of IT and technology investments
  • Determine the high level non-functional requirements for the project and ensure the solution meets these requirements where appropriate
  • Provide recommended technical solutions and associated costs based on defined requirements, creating High Level Architecture (HLA) and Technical Architecture Document (TAD) products or overseeing the technical aspects of their delivery, determining whether creative and innovative, tactical or strategic solution options are appropriate
  • Validate the technical viability of proposed solutions
  • Ensure designs adhere to Architecture Standards and documented roadmaps
  • Provide guidance to other architects and project professionals and ensure that designs and technical deliverables are feasible components of the overall solution
  • Provide assurance on the technical components of the project
  • Ensure the Enterprise Architecture Repository and design documents for new and changed applications are updated at the end of the project delivery;
  • Develop and agree additional standards as a result of introducing new applications/infrastructure;
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging standards, working with partners/vendors to understand new application and infrastructure releases or new applications/infrastructure pertinent for use within the portfolio;
  • Drive IT Operations to realise expected or better technical benefits from projects, and ensure technical integrity of the IT Operations service;
  • Ensure the appropriate delivery of architecture and design changes within projects, as well as providing technical assurance of the project architecture deliverables;
  • Develop the products required to achieve that target architecture. This work will be carried out in conjunction with the Enterprise Programme Management function.
  • Provide leadership, oversight and co-ordination of architectural reviews/input.   • Responsible for the delivery of appropriate solutions within a project team, performing the following project related activities (will be across multiple projects):
  • Provide technology liaison to programs and projects in their initial phases, giving advice on how business ideas can be best supported by new IS and technology solutions
  • Deliver relevant business case architectural input to programmes and projects to maximise the value of IT and technology investments
  • Determine the high level non-functional requirements for the project and ensure the solution meets these requirements where appropriate

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of project delivery methodologies
  • Able to demonstrate a strong background in infrastructure solutions at all levels, Conceptual, Logical and Physical
  • Experience in setup and delivery of solutions into cloud providers such as Amazon AWS and / or Microsoft Azure
  • Good experience of all areas of the Solution design process, from business engagement, requirements gathering, Application selection, build, integration, infrastructure into service to ensure that the solution meets all business and technical needs
