Project Administrator - Innovation Projects Team
Salary range: £23,787 - £27,822 + excellent benefits
Hours: 36.5 hours per week (2 years fixed term contract)
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is comprised of 18 local authorities and four Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) working together to move powers from Whitehall to the West Midlands and our locally elected politicians, who know this region best. Individual councils will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.
Transport for West Midlands, the transport arm of the WMCA is a rapidly growing authority and fast emerging as a standard setter in the industry - in October 2017 we became only the second ever to win the 'City-Region Transport Authority of the Year’ Award twice in a row. We are re-shaping our Policy, Strategy and Innovation Department to respond to new challenges and the largest Combined Authority Mayoral portfolio outside London. We want new talent to join our already excellent team.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Project Administrator to support our Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) delivery teams and programmes. The Government has committed to investing in CAV research and development, having recognised the expected commercial and technological expansion of the sector. We plan to capitalise on this growth and establish the region as an internationally-recognised centre for CAV development. One of our projects, the "UK Central CAV Testbed", marks a critical step towards realising truly autonomous vehicles and securing the region as central to the sector. This collaborative project will build a test environment for connected and autonomous vehicles in the West Midlands. The testbed will stretch across 80 kilometers of public road in Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull and North Warwickshire, enabling managed interaction between CAVs and other road users.
We are looking for a proactive individual who can support the team with experience of reporting to funding bodies, managing complex budgets and timesheets, updating project planning documents and providing administration for a diverse and busy team.
