Prospero Teaching are recruiting several SEN learning support assistants to work at a Special Needs College in Stockport which caters for young adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and a multi-sensory impairment. The college supports students from ages 16-25. As a learning support assistant you will be working 1-1 and in small groups with the students, supporting them in a number of subjects throughout the day.
All roles are full time and temporary to permanent.
The successful learning support assistant will ideally:
- Be enthusiastic, driven and conscientious
- Have previous experience working with children or young adults with Learning Difficulties.
- Be comfortable with personal care as you would be expected to assist with feeding and toileting for pupils of all ages.
- Excellent communication skills
The students take part in subjects such as art, music, sport and horticulture. They have access to hydrotherapy swimming pools, sensory gardens and other specialist facilities. The role is to help encourage and promote independence for the young adults. Essential skills include excellent communication and relationship building.
A registration process will need to be followed before starting the role, therefore you must be able to provide two references demonstrating the above skills.
