Claims Negotiator sought to be responsible for the effective management/handling of predominantly high value, complex professional risks claims, providing expert advice to the business on the merit of these claims. Duties will include taking full ownership of the claim from initial notification through to final settlement, providing a high level of customer service to clients. Ensuring that reserves are accurately set and maintained throughout the life of each claim. Instructing Solicitors on claims as required, to assist with investigation and processing of claims to establish the potential liability of the company and to deal with claims as appropriate ie by dismissal, negotiation or settlement.
To succeed in this challenging role candidates will need considerable experience in claims negotiation within either a legal, broker or insurer market and aspects of commercial claims, ideally Professional Indemnity. Competency in policy interpretation, with a good knowledge of the application of the principles of insurance, proven negotiation and decision making skill are required. Legal qualifications would be valuable but not essential. Looking for excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work on own initiative and function effectively in a team environment. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word and Excel is required plus ideally experience of an electronic case management system.
