Production Unit Manager - Precision Machining

Our client is a long established specialist company in the design, development and manufacture of PTFE products and components serving a broad range of industries world-wide including laboratory, pharmaceutical, chemical processing, food & drink, semi-conductor and aerospace.

They seek to provide workable solutions to design and manufacturing problems and their technical excellence and detailed attention to meeting client requirements makes them respected market leaders in their field with a reputation for being experts in PTFE and it's products.

They are looking to recruit a proven and motivational Production Unit Manager with a strong technical base and excellent management and organisational skills for their busy Precision Machining Unit.

The unit is a modern production unit responsible for converting PTFE rod, billets and mouldings into finished products using grinding, CNC turning and milling techniques including 5-Axis.

Experience in working with EMCO CNC lathes, live tooling, XYZ Proturn lathes and HAAS milling would be preferred. Experience in FANUC, Sinumeric and EdgeCAM programming and Shadowgraph and CMM inspection equipment would be advantageous.

The Machining Unit Manager will be responsible for all machining operations and will be required to provide strong and focussed leadership to ensure output, efficiency and quality. The Machining Unit Manager will also be expected to contribute to recommendations and implementation of continuous improvement of skill, output, efficiency and quality within the department.

The successful candidate will be a time serviced machinist with a minimum HND in a mechanical or production engineering discipline and will have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and to program, set and run a variety of turning, milling and grinding machines.

It is essential that the right candidate is hands-on, a motivational man-manager, excellent communicator and have the ability to make accurate judgements and identify appropriate courses of action to meet both short and long term objectives.
