Production Technician - GMP / GLP

Posted 6 February by Next Phase Recruitment
Two brand new roles have been created with an innovative Biotech company who are opening a new production facility in Dunsfold, near Cranleigh in Surrey (easily commutable from Horsham and Guildford, with good links to Gatwick). This is an exciting opportunity for people who have experience of GMP / GLP, analytical techniques such as HPLC, UV and IR spectroscopy, use of rotary evaporators and freeze dryers, and the desire to learn more about product development and manufacturing. Your title will be Production Technician, though because of the size of the business and nature of the environment you will have a mixture of analytical and production responsibilities. This will make it ideal if you feel you want to push your career to the next level and undertake broader responsibilities and autonomy. As there are 2 roles, candidates will be considered at both the ends of the scale between £22,000 and
£33,000 salaries, depending on experience.

Company Description

You will join an exciting and innovative business who have developed and patented a novel drug delivery carrier. They can load it with a range of ingredients, ranging from DNA to vitamins and proteins. They are also able to alter the design of their carrier to be polypharmaceutical, allowing several different methods for administration and timed release. This means the carrier can be used across the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and animal health sectors. The company is headquartered in Guildford, Surrey, England and is now opening a purpose-built manufacturing facility in Dunsfold Park near Cranleigh. The facility will be manufacturing different versions of the carrier for cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.

Some of your initial training will be in Dover (Kent), though once everything is up and running with the new production site you will be based in Dunsfold, Surrey. Dunsfold is not commutable by public transport, so use of your own vehicle is essential. Dunsfold is within easy commuting distance of Horsham, Guildford and Crawley.

The Opportunity

The Production Technician roles are unique, as not only will you be responsible for product development and processing, but you will also be in charge of quality control. Your responsibilities will include:

- Dispensing of reagents and materials
- Mixing operations
- Handling of fine powders and solvents
- Use of Rotary Evaporators
- Use of freeze dryers
- Performing analytical assays including HPLC, UV analysis, Karl Fisher, IR etc
- Completion of batch and analytical records
- Ensuring GMP and COSHH requirements are fulfilled
- Familiarity with cleanroom manufacturing requirements
- Trouble shooting of production and lab equipment’s for operational and set-up faults
- Completion of Certificates of Analysis

While the new facility in Dunsfold is having its finishing touches done, the first few months of training will be spilt between the companies R&D labs in Guildford and their temporary labs in Dover. You will therefore be spending some time in Dover over the first few months to learn the production processes. Any time spent training in Dover will be funded by the company, including travel and accommodation costs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, and ambitious individual to widen their career prospects and gain experience working with a fascinating and expanding company.

Experience

We are looking for bright, ambitious individuals who have experience from a GLP/GMP production / development / QC / environment, with expertise in HPLC, UV and Karl Fisher analytical techniques being advantageous. Similarly, knowledge of rotary evaporators and freeze dryers would be preferred. These roles would suit individuals with strong QC or production experience who want to transition into a broader production-based role, but candidates will be considered from a variety of backgrounds.

You will need to have your own transport and will need to be comfortable with staying in Dover at different points during the initial training, before the job moves full-time to Surrey.

Full details will be provided on application.
