Production Team Leader - Food manufacturing (Day shift)
The Operations Team Lead is responsible and accountable for the manufacture of quality fresh food products which meets production needs and Customer Specification and achieves profit and performance targets. Driving continuous improvement to maximise operational effectiveness and efficiencies through the development of people, process and systems. Enhancing the group, mission, vision and values.
Maintains and ensures Quality, Hygiene and productivity standards are maintained in the production environment.
You may be asked to work in any area of the business as and when demand requires it.
To carry out a reasonable amount of overtime or to work outside core hours to meet orders and demand of the business
Reduces any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within your area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.
Responsible for the performance and speeds of lines with the aim of maximising line efficiency.
Monitor, control and report on the product quality of your area including product entering and leaving the area and the labelling of products.
Work to improve the work methods for productivity, performance, safety of the operation.
Communicate regularly and effectively with the Management in order that they are fully briefed on all aspects of line / area operations, in particular the achievement of line/ area targets, employee attitudes and product quality
Responsible for effective shift change overs which includes paper work and machinery.
Effectively manage the resources to ensure minimum downtime and maximum efficiency
Liaise with all appropriate departments to ensure maximum efficiency and quality.
Covers for Business Unit Leader when as required
Ensure development and training of operatives/Line Controller
Support planning and implementation of the detailed daily production programme for relevant department, reporting potential variances and problems directly and promptly
Follow all Company policies , procedures and work methods
Be conscious of public relations and the image of the Company such that the operation is managed to uphold the presentation of the Company to visitors, customers and general public
To work a proportion of overtime at weekend or end of shift as required.
Report to the Business Unit Leader immediately any occurrence that could affect the finances or security of the Company or put its name into disrepute.
Attend team meetings as required and contribute to good communication between management and operatives
Recruit Team Leaders, Line Controller/Process Operatives.
To undertake any other reasonable and relevant duties as required by Management.
To work in a manner that actively seeks to reduce any negative environmental impact in relation to the processes and procedures operating within their area and across the wider business e.g. reduction of waste, recycling etc.
Promotes the health and safety of oneself and others and deals with health and safety issues.
Effectively deal with performance management issues
Deal with first level disciplinary
Proven leadership experience within a food manufacturing environment
Awareness of Food Manufacturing Industry
FMCG/Food Manufacturing experience
NVQ level 4 /ILM qualification
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
Previous experience of achievement in continuous improvement
Good communication skills
Ability to speak English to a high level
Good PC skills
Good attention to detail
Good organisational skills
Problem solving and decision making skills
Continuous improvement approach
Able to use own initiative
