Production Planning Manager

Your role

We are currently looking for an experienced Production Planning Manager to join a global company in their Halifax offices. As a Production Planning Manger you will support the development of plans for the delivery of improved resource utilisation aligned to demand.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage the creation of a rolling Master Production Plan.
  • Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, volume erosion and new business opportunities.
  • Convert long-term plans into weekly and daily operational plans in order to deliver SLA within budget.
  • Monitor short term changes to forecasts and schedules and plan for volume and operational variability.
  • Perform supply demand analysis, highlighting areas of concern.
  • Analyse labour utilisation data and comparative information regarding staffing levels as it relates to profitability and cost and through this process support the development of refined labour budgets and staffing allocations.
  • Maximise machine utilisation
  • Develop a comprehensive capacity management approach that balances cost and risks. Develop, maintain and improve capacity models, planning tools and processes to support.
  • Seek cost reduction and risk mitigation opportunities and work with cross-functional team for implementation
  • Monitor actual output versus the Master Production plan.
  • Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric on production performance to the requested production schedule.
  • Timely reporting of KPIs.

    What you’ll bring

  • Advanced Excel and Access skills with good knowledge of other Microsoft tools including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence communicating to both technical and non-technical audiences as well as senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of Business Intelligence methodologies and tools with a sound understanding of the application of statistical methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand both the bigger picture and detailed view simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve data issues and anomalies and effectively explain the issues.
  • Sound understanding of SQL and VBA with other programming and coding skills desirable.
