Production Manager

Adecco Durham has a fantastic opportunity to join a well established engineering company as a Production Manager to join their team and work in conjunction with the Site Manager to oversee and optimise production processes.

Our client is multi national and a market leader in their field. This is a permanent role and my client is based in Consett and they are offering a competitive salary of £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience.

Key Duties:
1.Ensure that customer orders are produced on time, to the desired quality levels and within the budgeted cost.
2.Monitor performance against objectives by use of appropriate KPI's and initiate corrective action when required.
3.Adopt new ideas, including the improvement of team and Company performance using Continuous Improvement techniques.
4.Ensuring productivity targets are met.
5.Drive 5s activities within the relevant cell.
6.Liaising with the Site Manager to ensure daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets are set and attained.
7.To ensure lean manufacturing improvement processes are implemented.
8.Assist the Site Manager with the budget review process.
9.Ensuring Health and Safety standards are maintained throughout the Consett site.
10.Ensuring work rules are consistently applied to all employees.
11.In conjunction with the Site Manager, develop training plans for the Consett workforce.
12.In the absence of the Site Manager, act as a Deputy in relation to production activities.
13.Perform any other reasonable duties, as instructed by the Site Manager.

Job Competencies/Key Skills:
1.Previous experience of working in a similar environment and as a Production Manager is essential.
2.Knowledge of sheet metal forming and assembly manufacturing practise is highly desirable.
3.Demonstrated ability in applying manufacturing principles i.e. lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, including 5s techniques.
4.Excellent knowledge of H&S and its application in the workplace is essential.
5.Previous experience of working with budgets is essential.
6.Possess good IT skills (spreadsheets, engineering databases, presentation tools etc.)
7.Ability to demonstrate clear leadership skills.
8.Ability to understand, analyse and resolve complex issues and give balanced well considered decisions.
9.Ability to work independently and be effective in a fast paced environment.
10.Self-motivated, Production Manager, capable of dealing with a variety of fast moving and demanding tasks, with the ability to demonstrate real passion for the role.
11.Excellent time management, project management, numeracy and literacy skills.
12.Possess the confidence and presentation skills to advise all staff and senior management on operational issues.
13.Be able to travel within & outside the UK, and work away from base location as necessary.

Hours:8:00am - 5:00pm (Monday - Thursday)
8:00am - 1:00pm (Friday)
39 hours per week
