Production Assembly Fitter

My client is a successful and expanding wood chipper manufacturer based in a purpose built factory in Stowmarket with free parking and excellent transport links. Our Production Assembly Fitters are part of a strong team of experienced fitters with car mechanic and agricultural engineering backgrounds. They work in a clean and well organised environment with a very happy and productive atmosphere producing the famous Timberwolf wood chipper range of machinery. Each fitter has a varied and challenging part to play in the production of our machines and have the opportunity to progress within a rapidly expanding Company.

Job Purpose
The Production Assembly Fitter is a skilled and qualified mechanical technician responsible for the assembly of the product line. Assembly takes place in the production workshop under the supervision of the Production Foreman and & Deputy Foreman.

Duties and Responsibilities

The assembly and sub assembly of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions

You will operate a range of hand tools and air operated power tools to assemble machines

Maintain a clean & safe workspace

Maintain an accurate time log of work performed

Keep updated on any changes to build instructions by checking and initialling any changes

l Maintain & use all required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to carry out the work

l Liaise with the Foreman on any delays encountered that will result in an extended build time

l Perform the occasional component re-work under instruction and as required by the needs of the business

Skills and Attributes

A wide range of knowledge of manufacturing and production process.

Competent in reading written build instructions and be able to work quickly and efficiently with minimum of supervision.

Strong agricultural or automobile mechanical fitting experience.

Experienced in the use of a variety of assembly/fitting tools and equipment.

Ability to work to tight deadlines.

Team Player.

Ability to pay attention to minute detail and quality.

Initiative, adaptive, and willingness to learn.

Ability to work on own initiative.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in a mechanical background within a production environment.
