Our client is an internationally recognised manufacturer of products and components used within a vast array of applications in production and process systems for pharmaceutical, aerospace, microprocessor, food and beverage markets to name but a few. Due to internal promotions they are in need of an additional qualified Technical Support Engineer to join their team in Eastbourne. and will incorporate a strong focus on fault finding and determining the reason a product/drive or component may have failed.
The job also requires you to carry out a series of compliance testing (type tests) and report the findings for peer review on new products to complete the NPI process and become familiar with the product in order to support it when it goes into the field. EN61010 is the preferred safety standard for the majority of our products.
The products are varied and include 3 phase inverter drives for vacuum pumps, both mains derived (up to 1kW) and low voltage (24/48V), vacuum gauges using various technologies, pump and gauge controllers
You will be expected to have a strong background in electronic engineering with some design experience.
Knowledge of circuit diagrams and be able to identify the function of various types of analogue and digital circuit
Have a knowledge if digital communications solutions, specifically serial comms over an RS232 or RS485 link or wider network
Have some knowledge of the use of microcontrollers and embedded software
Be able to fault find down to component level - resistors, capacitors, inductors, operational amplifiers, logic and programmable digital ICs, transistors and MOSFETs and determine the reason for failure/damage in the associated circuit
Be familiar with both surface mount and through hole technology
Be able to produce reports on the findings to feed back to customers or the technology team
Be able to prototype circuits
Have a knowledge of components and their uses, limitations, variants in order to be able to advise on suitable replacements for the role
Have some knowledge of the product certification process such as UL, CSA, ETL etc. and the factory surveillance and audit processes that continuing compliance with the certification requires
Be able, after familiarisation, to support customers and users of Edwards products in their use and operation
