JOB DESCRIPTION

- To ensuring that the we have an optimal product assortment that meets the needs of the relevant customer and end-user base, whilst concurrently maximising profitability and minimising complexity.

Main tasks and projects: (Budget, personnel, quality, processes)
- Lead and execute work in relevant category/end-user usage insight (engagement and observation) for the UK & Nordic markets to understand how, when and where our products are used and not used.
- Apply and leverage this insight to optimise the MM and PL product portfolio as well as to identify strategic innovation possibilities and product improvement projects.
- The Product Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of tactical and strategic innovation projects through the fostering and leverage of effective cross-functional teams that deliver product/service solutions beyond the imagination of our end-users, customers and competitors.
- Manage the MM and PL product portfolio, utilising insight, business facts and data to ensure we deliver on relevant customer and end-user needs whilst maximising profit and minimising complexity.
- Work in close partnership with other Product Managers within the I&PM team to ensure a coordinated execution of product portfolios across our brands and markets.
- Work to meet the commercial opportunities presented by MM and PL whilst simultaneously striving to protect and strengthen our core DIY brands.
- Work according to the innovation process within stage-gate process and tools. Contribute to its continuing evolution.
- Establish effective working relationships with colleagues in the Product Development, Marketing and Commercial teams.
- Work with a broad range of Stakeholders to ensure that our strategic innovation projects acknowledge their expectations too, where appropriate. Be adept at gathering and filtering feedback, building consensus and gaining buy-in.
- Participate in the development and implementation of processes and methods of working that help the entire Marketing & Innovation department functions at its best.
- Where necessary, support the group Insight & Product Marketing Manager with the presentation/communication of strategic insight projects at the of OHC Innovation Board and other relevant "SKU forums".
- Be an ambassador for "Empowering Decorating Heroes" and champion of the pillars of thinking.

Experience (Area, type of position/work, products, markets, international)
- Proven relevant business experience in a relevant industry
- Proven experience within/of product development
- Must have managed a concept through from idea to market, demonstrate an ability to deliver
- Experience within consumer buying psychology
- Ideally experience within the UK and/or Nordic DIY markets
- Prior experience of identifying commercial opportunities
- Prior experience of briefing designers/developers

Competence/Skills (i.e. IT-skills, change management, project management, negotiation skills)
- Good level of business understanding and commercial insight
- Strong analytical abilities combined with in-depth understanding of categories and brand thinking
- High level of understanding of, and curiosity in, consumer needs and behaviour and its link to market dynamics
- Project management experience with proven track record of delivery
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to influence and integrate others
- Excellent team worker
- Natural and eager leader within a group
- Ability to identify opportunities
- IT skills: Microsoft Office
