Product Engineer - Manchester
Our chosen business partner are experiencing a large increase in orders and are looking to add to their engineering team. They are one of the leading manufacturers worldwide of pressure related products and going through an exciting time at present.
The main responsibility of this role will be to assist the Engineering Manager by providing engineering support in maintaining existing product ranges. This to include support to research and development test programs, approval and certification programs and the provision of engineering support to sales and marketing, product manufacture and strategic procurement.
Responsible for engineering database (specifications, drawings, procedures) for PR Valves.
Consults with and coordinates the engineering effort with customers, Marketing, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
Responsible for generating continuous improvement and cost reduction of assigned product line.
Investigate and resolve NCR's and complaints from internal departments, customers and vendors.
Develops engineering procedures and specifications for all PR Valves.
Generates procedures for product testing, installation, maintenance, cleaning, packaging.
Maintains a working knowledge of all Codes and Standards applicable to the assigned product lines. Reviews Code addenda and documents changes affecting products.
Maintains product certification of assigned product ranges to national and international standards.
May perform other special duties or projects as requested by Engineering Manager.
Work with Lean Manager to continually review and implement improvement opportunities in accordance with the PIMS methodology.
To produce or amend Bills of Material and to maintain/update records on the ERP system as required.
To produce general arrangement, detail and customer drawings in AUTOCAD format.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum BENG in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Experience of Autodesk AutoCAD / Autodesk Inventor of Equivalent CAD package.
Working knowledge of mechanical engineering practices, standards/specs, computers.
Experience of pressure systems / vessels and relevant Codes is required for this role.
Engineering software, planning, communication, presentation, facilitation, and analytical skills.
Experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
Ability to be creative and innovative, and to meet customer requirements in cost effective ways.
Accountable for meeting commitments and deadlines.
Able to quickly change priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
Must possess a proactive, methodical and logical approach in problem solving.
Meeting agreed targets of the scope and schedule for product engineering.
