Our specialist and technical client is currently seeking to recruit a Product Development Engineer to join their team in Burgess Hill.
Reporting to the Business Development Director, the Product Development Engineer will operate primarily as a software test and development Engineer for products in the Vision Systems and Profile Projector categories. This role will require a close working relationship with both suppliers and the production / technical support functions internally.
The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for testing and optimising the Operating System, device driver, application SW settings and versions to ensure continued compatibility; whilst developing software testing strategies, processes and working practices in order to manage software issue control and will be required to produce and manage issue control of software release notes, software, user manuals, installation and upgrade guides. The post holder will work with the Business Development Director to make recommendations on how to improve software-based products with an emphasis on increased functionality, market competitiveness and the use of latest technology.
Candidates must have a good level of academic achievement to degree level or equivalent, ideally in a Mechanical Engineering discipline which covered modules in Metrology, CAD and instrumentation and control. Previous experience in software development, testing and building, testing PC hardware and issue control is advantageous.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate competency in supporting measurement software within a windows OS environment and an understanding of assembly instruction through reverse engineering. Familiarity with Project management approaches and key elements, and experience with multiple UI’s including WinForms, WPF, QT,GTK# is desirable.
