Procurement Support Officer

Our public sector client based in Durham have an exciting opportunity for experienced Procurement Support Officer to join their busy team.

Temporary ongoing contract

Immediate start

Hours Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

Part Qualified as a Member of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply.(Level 4 OR Qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) in a business/finance related subject.


Experience of undertaking and supporting procurement projects.

Experience participating in the delivery of service improvements, cost reduction, value for money improvements.

Experience of involvement in the development of corporate procurement initiatives or systems.

Experience in the development, implementation and operation of procurement strategy, policies, systems, processes, toolkits across an organisation.

Experience of developing and delivering training.


Basic knowledge of the legislative framework related to public procurement.

Basic knowledge of the latest best practice procurement and e-procurement methodologies, processes, systems.

Basic procurement, negotiation, sourcing, contract management and supplier relationship management skills.

Basic knowledge of Project Management methodologies and Contract Law.

Basic knowledge of sustainable procurement / social value policies and methodologies.

Positive, enthusiastic and flexible approach with good interpersonal and relationship management skills.

Willingness to work on own initiative and also as part of a multi-functional team.

Strong commitment to the achievement of targets and a strong customer quality philosophy.
