This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who has the potential to operate strategically and wants to join a global business in a role where they will have a real impact. We are looking for a proactive and tenacious individual to drive continuous improvement of the supply chain process as well as retaining the day to day and more hands on duties. You will ensure the timely and cost effective provision of materials, products and services and develop the procurement department and team. This is a key role ensuring we continually develop the quality of our products and reduce our time to manufacture. Ideally you will have a track record of purchasing components in a production engineering environment with challenging deadlines.

The Role

Key responsibilities of the role will include (but not be limited to):

  • Developing and implementing the procurement business strategy
  • Management of supply chain in accordance with product volumes and specifications
  • Purchase of materials, products and services in support of QCD objectives
  • Continuous Improvement of Purchasing and Supply Chain processes, quality and performance
  • Define and implement outsourcing and cost down value add programmes
  • Maintain monthly reporting on budgets, cost savings, market pricing and opportunities
  • Coach, train and manager the Buyer team to continually improve their professional capabilities, effectiveness and enjoyment of their role

The Person

  • The ideal candidate for the role will be qualified in Purchasing & Supply Chain management by training or experience to CIPS level 4 or 5, MCIPS preferred. With relevant engineering experience (electronic, electrical or mechanical), you will be able to read drawings involved in the design and manufacture of engineered parts
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and MRP systems, ideally E1 (JD Edwards), SAP or Oracle
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills
  • People management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record of purchasing in an engineering/production environment
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and thrive under pressure
