A large well established and growing manufacturer based in Chelmsford are currently recruiting for a Procurement Manager to join their team. For this role you will have had Procurement, Purchasing or Buying experience within manufacturing company while also having knowledge of quality systems.
In this key, high-profile role you will operate in a challenging environment, managing high mix, low volume products with detailed specifications and uncompromising quality requirements. In order to succeed you will be able to demonstrate and implement a rigorous strategy to deliver first class value for the business.
Duties for this Procurement Manager position:-
Negotiate contracts in line with business directives and requirements (NPI, quality, working capital, inventory efficiency, cost);
Commodity Management Control of the sourcing and acquisition strategy for selected commodities and projects;
Convey accurate purchasing requirements and specifications to suppliers;
Prioritise and justify procurement activity using thorough data analysis;
Tactical procurement & issue resolutionCo-ordinate with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain and Business Units to resolve critical supplier related issues risking disruption to production and projects;
Align material sourcing activity with product demand forecasts through liaison with Business Units and Supply Chain Planners Risk Management;
Supplierscorecard development and maintenance;
KPI development and maintenance;
Skills & experience needed for this Procurement Manager role:-
Ability to take control of procurement projects;
Specific commodity knowledge (machined metal components, electronic assemblies, ceramics, mechanical assemblies, exotic raw materials);
Extensive strategic sourcing experience;
Extensive supplier management experience (high mix, low volume, high quality manufacturing capabilities);
Ability to lead supplier development activity;
Strong knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes;
Strong evidence of successful procurement in a complex technological environment;
Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001:2015) and audit techniques;
Strong knowledge of production drawing principles and standards;
ERP practical knowledge; especially SAP (Purchasing, Supply Chain, MM, QM modules).
Benefits for this Procurement Manager role:-
Salary £40,000 to £50,000 per annum;
On site free car parking;
Monday to Friday role.
