What does Value mean to you? For us, Procurement isn’t just about saving a few pounds on next year’s mobile phone contracts or the like. Our procurement team place a significant emphasis on value and value doesn’t always mean saving a quick buck for the next 12 months. We want to hire a Procurement Category Manager with the same mindset to help us to negotiate and set up strategic and tactical supply agreements.
We’ve got a lot of contracts across the business that are approaching the time where negotiations need to start, this means there is a real opportunity to make your mark on the business early on. The contracts are mainly across indirect spend areas and include IT and Telecoms, but there is opportunity to support in other areas too. Day to day you’ll be based in Darlington (ideally), there’ll be lots of negotiating, running of tenders and plenty of commercial analysis and building relationships with internal stakeholders. We want our business to think differently and we need someone with a strategic mindset to help us achieve this.
Our ideal Procurement Manager will have at least 3 years experience in an indirect procurement role, and be CIPS qualified (or working towards this). We’d really like it if you had experience of IT and/or Telecoms and you can demonstrate that you can juggle multiple projects and relationships at once. You’ll need experience in negotiating and influencing outcomes and have a good understanding of the legal requirements around supply contracts. Northgate is moving at a million miles per hour, so the ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving environment will stand you in good stead.
We’re offering the successful candidate a competitive basic salary and excellent benefits including a company car or allowance. You’ll also get the opportunity to work with one of the most committed and driven Procurement teams in the region and have an opportunity to really drive your career forward.
