Procurement Assistant

My client based close to Bury St Edmunds is recruiting for a Procurement Assistant to join their growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate and you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating and buying goods, materials and services to meet the Company’s operational requirements.

Key Duties

  • Improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make savings
  • Work with Production and Sales to forecast future materials requirements and ensure continuity of supply
  • Prepare and raise purchase orders
  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications
  • Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships
  • Conduct research for new components and suppliers
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
  • Ad hoc duties as requested by Line Manager

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

  • At least 1 years proven experience
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain effective and productive relationship with suppliers and staff
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong problem solving skills
  • Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failure impacts
  • Works well under pressure and to deadlines
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects whilst maintaining a sharp attention to detail
  • A logical and systematic approach to work
  • Proficient in word, excel, Microsoft Office, SAGE
