Job Title: Procurement Assistant

Salary: £11.65 p/h

Hours: Full-Time

Role Outline

To work with the Procurement Manager to provide an efficient procurement service.

Key Duties

  • Manage sourcing, e-tendering, selection and contracting services
  • Production of contract extensions, ensuring policy is adhered to and an audit trail is maintained
  • Maintain the various procurement registers
  • Maintain quality control over the issue of contract numbers
  • Liaise with Finance Director and Cost Consultants to ensure budgets are available for all procurement activity
  • Undertake special project work, ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
  • Monitor, record and review efficiency savings delivered through procurement
  • Monitor, and capture data relating to, progress and performance of suppliers
  • Report exceptions or concerns to the Procurement Manager
  • Provide procurement advice as required
  • Support members of the Procurement team in tendering, negotiation and contract management

Skills & Experience

  • Experience of Higher Education or wider Public Sector Procurement
  • Knowledge of modern Procurement techniques; Value for Money; Whole Life Costing
  • Knowledge of In-Tend and other electronic tendering systems as necessary
  • Excellent PC skills including the use of word processors and creation of complex evaluation spreadsheets (Microsoft Office), e-tendering and document management systems
  • Able to engage with non-procurement specialists across the diverse range of teams
  • High level of literacy and numeracy with a strong analytical ability
  • Experience of procurements including responsibility for tendering and supply chain management
