Description

As the Process Tooling Design Engineer you will integrate into the engineering team at Newport, this position will support product developments in the defined market sectors to match sales requirements and costs as defined by the New Product Introduction procedure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce tooling designs for the plant Engineering Department to meet their requirements

  • Responsible for creating tooling designs using appropriate CAD tools in cooperation with the Engineering & Design Manager

  • Prepare appropriate product drawings for review and approval

  • Communicate and progress common design methodologies

  • Liaise with plant engineering to agree tooling requirements

  • Responsible for tooling designs in collaboration with plant engineering

  • Support plant engineering in approving and signing-off new/modified tool designs

  • The above, whilst a comprehensive outline of the key responsibilities, is not exhaustive and other duties may be required within the competency of the employee to support the business

Profile

To be considered as the Process Tooling Design Engineer the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Ideally degree qualified or apprentice trained in an engineering discipline

  • You will be able to demonstrate experience gained in a similar tooling focused position

  • Comprehensive knowledge of 2D/3D and 4D CAD systems, to produce detailed tooling designs

  • Experience of review/manufacture of both new and modified tool designs, contributing new and innovative solutions

  • Presentation to support review and manufacture of new and modified tool designs

  • Excellent planning and organisation skills

  • Excellent communication skills to liaise at all levels of the organisation

  • Be able to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Flexible, prepared to accept other opinions as a key input into decision making process

  • Logical, progressive thinker but with the ability for "out of the box concepts"
