Process Improvement Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer

£38-43k + benefits

The Process Improvement Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support, identify and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to optimise process performance and capability and minimise rejections and 'special cause’ events. Working for the world’s leading innovator and manufacturer of nickel-based superalloys - we are looking for an ambitious Process Improvement Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer to fit in with the current remit and succession planning moving forward - this is an employer and a role with genuine and achievable prospects.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES

The Process Improvement Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer will:

  • Provide support for process performance and product quality
  • Carry out root cause analysis, identify and record sources of 'special cause’ events and process variation that adversely affect process performance and product quality
  • Lead the planning and coordination of manufacturing techniques and support justification for alternate methods to reduce costs
  • Champion continuous improvement
  • Work with management team and operators to establish a "right first time" quality approach, and customer focus
  • Establish specifications and process acceptance criteria for machines & equipment
  • Support project management value stream on all new key projects where required
  • Drive resolutions to shop floor process problems with regards to process, strategy and hardware
  • Interact with the operations department on technical, process, & quality related issues
  • Create or modify standard operating procedures to help improve product conformance to specification and process capability; and maintain SOP database
  • Coaching and training, to ensure the successful implementation of a culture of waste identification, elimination through the deployment of lean tools and principles, and continuous improvement
  • Run continuous improvement activities in line with agreed plans
  • Identify areas for improvement and produce realistic and coherent improvement plans
  • Support New Product Development initiatives under the supervision of the Product Development Manager
  • Work in accordance with Company Environmental Policy and Health and Safety Policy procedures

APPLICANT MINIUMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous demonstrable Manufacturing Engineering experience working within a business that produces precision engineered products, in a regulated industry
  • HNC, HND or degree in a field such as Mechanical or Materials Engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of implementing lean manufacturing techniques and tools
  • A proven track record of driving out waste and cost within a business
  • Demonstrable experience of improved productivity and process improvement

The Process Improvement Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer role would suit someone who has worked in a similar manufacturing role before, or, we will consider applications from a more recent graduate with practical experience (a year in industry) within a manufacturing or engineering environment (salary will alter according to experience)

PACKAGE: c £38-43,000 (negotiable dependent upon experience), quarterly bonuses + pension scheme, life insurance, 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays). Employer of choice with outstanding prospects.
