I have a fantastic opportunity with a company who work in the utility company based in Reading. This role is a permanent positon and is Monday to Friday and full time 37.5 hours a week.

Principal Quantity surveyor - Job Purpose

You will be working as a principal quantity surveyor in group commercial in the utility company. The team currently assure a variety of different contracts. In this role you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the contracts allocated to you by the managing quantity surveyor and will be expected to lead on the implementation of robust assurance processes for all your contracts. You will also be expected to provide commercial support to contract managers as required.

You will be involved in annual and final accounting, estimating and forecasting. You will be supporting the commercial team procurement exercises, assessing applications for payment and ensuring that they are made on time and in accordance with the contracts.

You must ensure that appropriate processes are in place and monitored on your portfolio of contracts to ensure that contractual compliance is maintained and any non-performance is identified and corrective actions implemented as necessary.

You must have a degree in quantity surveying or equivalent with good relevant experience in a quantity surveying role. You will have procurement experience and will have a successful track record of assuring large actual cost contracts and experience of resolving disputes. Dedication and a willingness to learn and develop others are vital to success within this role.

Principal Quantity surveyor - Key skills:

You will need to have a background in Quantity Surveying in the utilities or construction company.
